ON THE SHELF

This is where I pause and pay attention.

Sometimes, it’s a small detail that pulls me in, a material choice, a shape, or a motif.

On the Shelf is a space for that deeper dive: a place for longer looks at pieces and at the brands behind them, whose values resonate with my own.

It’s not about reviewing products. It’s about listening to what they’re saying.

Here, I invite a closer look at how they’re created, where they come from, and what I’ve learned about the brand’s origins, vision, and craft along the way.

ONORA

ONORA isn’t just a home decor brand. It is a window into Mexico’s craft traditions.

Beyond the pieces themselves, you begin to see the stories, techniques, and artisan communities that sustain these practices.

What stayed with me most was the depth of context. Their About section reads like an archive, tracing elements such as pastillaje, vidriado, and weaving lineages, alongside the names of the people who carry this knowledge forward.

It is a reminder that craft is rooted in knowledge, not just decoration. The deeper I explored, the more I found worth sharing.

caralarga

Caralarga, based in Querétaro, Mexico, transforms discarded materials into sculptural forms that feel both grounded and unexpected.

Their work draws from memory and imagination, revealing a quiet beauty in what might otherwise be overlooked. Cotton fibers, rope, and remnants are reworked with care, carrying traces of their past into something entirely new.

It is a reminder that what we leave behind still holds potential. With attention and intention, even the most ordinary materials can take on a second life.
